My Fashion Mecca

I can’t walk past H&M recently without going inside, they have some lovely, simple summer bits which I am craving to buy! There is currently a mid-season sale on too, which adds fuel to the fire. I have all my holiday shopping to do soon and H&M is my first target (then probably Topshop much to the detriment of my bank card).

Anyway, here are a few of my favourite bits from online H&M (Don’t you find what they have in stores is always different to what is online?! CRAZY.)

I love this pink dress, one of my friends owns it and I’m very jealous I didn’t get in there first. It is so simple to wear, throw on a necklace and some pumps and you’re sorted. The flower detail makes the dress so minimal effort is involved when glamming it up! It’s also only £15 which upsets me further that is does not belong to me!!

This bright, bold red is very in right now, can be dressed up as easily as the first dress so very suitable for nights out, or just casually worn during the day. Block colours are a huge favourite this season, and H&M have got it spot on with this dress.

This floral number is perfect for summer, pair it with a denim jacket or a cardigan. You could add a waistbelt or just a neckalce. Simple! It’s also a very affordable price of just £7.99

I’ve decided, as I can’t have the dress in the first picture, I’m going to have to have this bolero, which would go very well with the floral dress above. Sneaky…

I’ve fancied a black playsuit for a while now, and the slouch detail to this one is gorgeous and it’s an affordable price of £19.99

This big clutch bag is a season must-have. That’s all. Oh no wait, it’s also only £7.99

That’s it for my favourite finds. Time to shop,

Go Go Go!

Please let me know if you’ve found any brilliant bargains or perfect summer items (I don’t want to be left out). What do you think of the items on my wish list?!

21st Century Girl

Willow Smith

So this is what a 21st century girl is, according to 10 year old Willow Smith. The young singer has had heads whipping to and fro, and not for her record selling number one single, but more because of her bold and vivacious fashion sense, and ever changing hairstyles!

Willow has started to mix up her naturally boyish style with her outfits ranging from shell suits to 8in Louis Vuitton platforms and Versace sunglasses. It’s not only her courageous outfits that are causing a buzz, her ever-changing hairstyles come and go quicker than the seasons, I’m surprised she still has any ideas left.

From Mohawk to neon braids, she’s had white, orange yellow and a whole variety of different colours in her hair, along with previously shaving it, braiding it and plaiting it. It’s tiring work just trying to keep up!

Coloured Hair

I’d like to say she’s building her way up in the world, but she’s already there. No need for her to social climb when you’re part of the Smiths, it just a step, no a shuffle in the right direction and you’re sorted.

Willow and mother, Jada both sat front row at Dolce and Gabbana and Armani at Milan’s fashion week, with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Naomi Campbell.

Not only that but she’s living every teenage girls dream by supporting Justin Bieber on tour. Bet she’s feeling smug.

What’s your opinion on this independent girl? The next Rhianna? Fashion icon?

London Street Style

It’s been a busy day, had to take a quick (it actually took ages, there was nothing quick about it) trip to our country’s capital.

It was the perfect opportunity to grab some street snaps of (some of) the fashionable people of London. However, as my day was so busy I kept forgetting, so only managed to snap a few girls in the bustle of my busy day.

I also got to go to Dolce and Gabbana’s Dress Me Up London event, but only for about half an hour because I had to get my train so alas I didn’t get to see the end result. I did however get to see the biggest names in the blogging industry start dressing up manikins whilst drinking champagne. Ugh, jealous.

Anyway, on with the show:

Love this top!

Sucks that I didn’t have a DSLR for these pictures, you can’t see the fringe detail on the top. Great outfit though, love the shoes.

Huge fan of these colours at the moment.

Lace shoes!! Really like this outfit, and her hair.

This whole outfit works really well.

Love the jacket with fur detail. Also, really jealous of her hair…

Adore these shorts. Seriously in love with them.

So what’s your opinion on these outfits? Do you think London is Englands fashion capital? Or have I got it all completely wrong?

Wish List…

3. Stumbled upon this cute bracelet on Kabiri when I was browsing earlier today. I love simple, understated jewellery I can wear everyday and never get sick of, and with this Piece Of My Heart bracelet you can disguise it underneath other bracelets.

Street Style

Chinos, chinos, chinos! Is usually the chants heard along London Road in Sheffield at ridiculous O’clock in the morning. This time however, I am not referring to the students favourite kebab shop.

I’ve decided to take to the streets in pursuit of fashionable male students. It’s a lot harder than it sounds with most boys wandering around in hooded jumpers and tracksuit bottoms.

However more and more men are yielding to the increasingly popular, easy to wear, chino trend. With most of them going for the casual stone washed colour, I am starting to prefer the darker hues such as navy, or khaki, or if you’re feeling brave enough then the red/ rust colour works too.

Whether they’re rolled up, cropped or full-length, they are easy fashion and perfect for summer. Not too hot, not over the top, pair it with a plain T-shirt and plimsolls and you’ve nailed it effortlessly.

So I took to the student-filled streets of Sheffield to find a few guys who were already out and about in the latest fashion.

I’m not too keen on the drop crotch trend and think chinos are much better suited to a pair of plimsolls or casual shoes or even smart shoes rather than tucked into a pair of boots. Low crotch and boots do nothing but make your legs look really short.

If you want to look smart then buy the smarter style chinos, but the casual, slightly more baggy style that’s filling our stores this season, give off a very strong ‘less is more’ message. Even the manikins are keeping it simple.

Isn’t that the perfect thing about summer? Hassle free, minimal outfits. No need to layer up to keep warm, just chuck on the simple stuff and away you go. Sorted.

Memoirs of a Chalet Girl

I’ve decided to do something totally different in this post after watching the new film Chalet Girl.

Doing a season is something I’ve wanted to do since the very first time I went skiing about 6 years ago, so when I finished my A-levels I had already planned and saved to go to Courchevel and work in a hotel.

The gorgeous French Alps

So when everyone went to start their first year at uni. I hopped on a plane with a load of people I didn’t know, some who had done this before, others who were new to it. I was sitting on the plane, next to a girl who was absolutely smashed “been drinking in the airport for the last twelve hours” she told me. Christ, here we go.

There was another girl as well who was beside herself, distraught and hiccupping for breath as the plane took off. As overdramatic as I thought this was, this girl turned out to be one of my best friends on my season, and a fellow chalet girl.

So, my season. Yes it is as messy as everyone hears it is, yes you do have to work some savage hours (starting at 4am once a week), no not everyone sleeps around as much as people assume you do, but yes, there are the select few who do.

I came across everything on my season, from people having threesomes, walking in on people getting it on, people getting naked and crowd surfing, people skiing naked, people skiing down mountains drunk, in the dark (I’m sorry but I have to put my hands up to this one). A lot of this took place in the seasonal Valley Rally, which meant a lot of drinking, a lot of nakedness and a lot of gruesome tasks within a time limit.

The most lethal drink that ever touched our lips, which wasn’t a consumable version of petrol, was Mutzig.  ‘Mutzig- Forget Everything’ was the slogan, and what a poster advert the seasonaires were for it.

There were nights such as Power Hour, where four-pint jugs of mutzig were only 8euros for two, that’s right two. If you could still stand by the end of your second jug then you were probably pouring your beer away in the toilet. It was lethal, but it was how every seasonaire let their hair down, the night before their day off.

Of course, every Power hour night meant serious repercussions. If you were silly/ drunk enough to shit on your own doorstep then you had to face the consequences, usually at 6am the next morning, still slightly drunk.

It was also these nights where those who came out with partners at home, became unfaithful. In all honesty, not one person who had a partner back home remained faithful; that is the vicious truth.

However there were the select few who couldn’t resist the romance of the Alps, and settled down into relationships, most of which are still together now, even back in ‘the real world’. This is where I blush and admit to being one of those people…

I met some of the most amazing people on my season, made some unlikely friends and awesome memories. It was one of the most upsetting moments in my life having to say goodbye the people who had become my best friends, and family. Everyone was going on to something different, summer seasons, university or some were putting their wild sides behind them to get a “real” job.

Getting home was incredibly exciting at first, but within a week of catching up with everyone who I’d missed for months I was ready to jump back on a plane to France.

I had so many stories to tell, people I wish everyone back home new about, yet they didn’t and they struggled to relate. However it means whenever I meet up with people from my season, and a year on I still see them, we can spend many nostalgic hours reminiscing over the ravaged antics of our season and the best moments of our lives.

We spent five months, skiing, drinking, laughing, working and never having to hear the sound of a police car or ambulance, we were almost shut off from reality with our lack of internet and television.

Yet being able to go for walks through the snow-capped trees, eat at some of the most gorgeous restaurants dotted around the mountains, go sledging through the trees or paraglide of the mountain in the sunshine, made my season perfect.

I didn’t care for the amount of weight I put on, or the lack of sleep I had. I quickly got over changing soiled sheets and cleaning toilets with a toothbrush. It was only a small price to pay for the best months of my life. If I could, I would drop everything in a second and do it all over again. Even for only £70 a week. Easy.

Any offers?

The Bold, Blunt Bobs

Fearne Cotton

Seems like one hairstyle is slowly trending amongst the celebrity scene with more revealing drastic chops into blunt bobs.

Fearne Cotton tweeted a picture of her latest cut, which is not too dissimilar in style to Olivia Palermo’s brown shoulder length cut. It’s not too drastic, falls nicely and suits her perfectly!

Olivia Palermo

The most attention grabbing cut however came from everyone’s favourite Friends character, and hair icon, Jennifer Aniston.

She changed her almost white, long locks for a drastic crop with more subdued honey hues.
